NRCan Receiving Applications under Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program

Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative is deploying the first round of funding under its Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) for a limited time only, starting with public and on-street (curbside) charging.

The program will fund fifty percent (50%) of Total Project Costs up to a maximum of five million dollars ($5,000,000) per Project*.

FLO, the Canadian expert in electric vehicle charging, has already deployed over 100 units under various NRCan programs, and can offer you support and expertise to determine the ideal EV charging infrastructure best suited to your needs.

Don’t wait! All submissions for the first wave, covering Public Places and On-Street charging, must be received by September 18th, 2019.

* The ZEVIP program is not intended for one-off installations and encourages partnerships with various organizations to ensure deployment on a larger scale. The program requires a minimum project size based on number of charging stations (minimum of 20 chargers or charging ports, if charging stations can charge two vehicles simultaneously).

Transitioning to a Low-Carbon Future

This funding will be delivered through cost sharing contribution agreements for eligible projects that will help meet the growing demand for EV charging.

The current open streams target public Level 2 and DC fast charging and curbside (on-street) deployments:

  • Public places: private / publicly owned parking areas for public use
Examples of public places include (but are not limited to): service stations; restaurants; arenas and recreational centers; libraries; medical offices; park and ride areas; etc.
  • On-street parking: municipalities, regional and provincial governments or their partners, for electric vehicle charging infrastructure deployment for on-street and curbside charging.

The ZEVIP* program will cover up to 50% of Total Project Costs up to a maximum of five million dollars ($5,000,000) per Project.

The maximum funding per type of charging station includes the following:

  • $5,000 per Level 2 (208 / 240 V) charging station (per connector)
  • $50,000 per Fast-charging station (50 kW)

* The ZEVIP program is not intended for one-off installations and encourages partnerships with various organizations to ensure deployment on a larger scale. The program requires a minimum project size based on number of charging stations (minimum of 20 chargers or charging ports, if charging stations can charge two vehicles simultaneously).
