Save by meeting the EV charging requirements for gas stations and parking lots.

The City of Vancouver is updating business licenses for gas stations and parking lots to help increase EV charging options across the city.

If you are an owner or operator of a gas station or parking lot with 60 or more stalls, you must act today to avoid higher fees.

Why act now?

FLO has extensive experience, and local representation, to ensure that your project meets eligibility. You must submit your verification package before September 1, 2025, to avoid higher fees

FLO will work with you to put together a winning plan and provide insight into funding opportunities to  help ensure compliance with new criteria.

Annual business license fees start January 2026 and will be $10,000 for:

  • Gas stations
  • Commercial parking lots with 60 or more stalls

Note: Gas stations and commercial parking lots that have installed a specified amount of EV charging will have a significantly lower business license fee.

The minimum charging specifications are:
  • Gas stations: at least 50 kW of charging
  • Commercial parking lots: 26.6 kW (equivalent to four Level 2 chargers)
  • Gas stations may apply for approval to install EV charging off-site to qualify for the lower business licence fee

Installing the right public charging infrastructure requires careful planning and consideration – from the number and power level of the chargers to installation locations and grid accessibility. When selecting an EV charging partner there are many things to consider, including your customer base, your physical location as well as your goals for the long term.  With over 15 years experience, FLO is Canada’s leading charging network operator, and in the top 4 in North America.
