LOUISVILLE, KY and QUEBEC CITY, QC – FEBRUARY 24, 2021 – Virtual Peaker is teaming up with FLO | AddEnergie, a North American leader in smart-charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), to boost access to home-charging devices. Already, the FLO® network has established an extensive presence in Canada and is accelerating its growth in the U.S. Since the company was created, FLO | AddEnergie has deployed more than 35,000 public charging stations in public, commercial, and residential settings.
Now integrated for utilities by Virtual Peaker’s cloud-based residential energy demand response platform, the FLO Home X5 charging device is optimized for single-family residences and can be installed indoors or outdoors due to its aluminum casing and heavy-duty cables. The FLO Home X5 is a Level 2 charging station—five times faster than a standard Level 1 station—that’s capable of a full EV charge in 4-5 hours. It’s simple and safe to install, and customers can configure smart features and view usage data through Virtual Peaker’s secure online portal.
FLO’s large and expanding network of home-charging stations provides reliability and durability, even in the harshest climates, and is a preferred choice for North American utilities because of its performance and low-maintenance costs.
“Electrification is on the minds of forward-thinking utilities,” said William (Bill) Burke, Virtual Peaker founder and CEO. “With FLO as a device partner, our clients have a great option to offer their customers who are looking for residential EV charging solutions.”
“We are excited to combine Virtual Peaker’s innovative and user-friendly platform with the proven reliability of our FLO residential charging solutions,” said Global Head, Utilities Frank Fata at FLO | AddEnergie. “As we increase our work with leading utilities, municipalities, rural electric coops, and businesses across the United States, we are proud to be able to offer Virtual Peaker’s customers the choice to add our popular smart-home charging station.”
Through FLO’s roaming agreements, similar to those used by wireless companies, users have access to a large network of charging stations across the United States and Canada.
