The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) Multi-Unit Dwellings EV Program is offering incentives to MUDs in New Jersey for the purchase of eligible Level 2 charging stations. Condo and apartment buildings could receive up to $4,000 toward the purchase of a dual-port, networked Level 2 EV charging station, up to the cost of the charger. MUDs located in an Overburdened Municipality or in a 100% deed restricted low and/or moderate-income development could receive up to $6,000 toward the purchase of a Level 2 charging station. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) Clean Fleet EV Incentive Program is offering incentives to local and state government entities in New Jersey for the purchase of eligible Level 2 charging stations. Eligible entities could receive up to $5,000 for public Level 2 EV charging stations, up to $4,000 for fleet Level 2 charging stations, and up to $50,000 for DC fast chargers.
Eligible entities include local schools, municipal commissions, state agencies or boards, state commissions, state universities, community colleges, county government and county authorities in addition to municipalities, municipal utility authorities, and state agencies. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) EV Tourism Program is offering incentives to install EV chargers at key New Jersey “Tourism Areas”. Locations ranging from boardwalks, parks, and other unique attractions, as well as overnight lodging establishments will have the opportunity to apply for up to six Level 2 charging stations and two DC fast chargers (DCFCs) through the program. Qualifying businesses, including non-profits and municipalities, may be eligible to a tax credit of up to 30% when purchasing and installing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The 30C tax credit now covers up to $100,000 per charger installed in locations that meet certain geographic requirements. Businesses must claim the credit on their federal tax return. The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program allocates $5 billion in funding to states to deploy EV fast chargers along designated alternative fuel corridors nationwide. The program provides funding for up to 80% of eligible project costs. In addition to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) minimum standards, each state can also set its own NEVI requirements.
