The Electric Circuit and Nissan become partners!

Today, Nissan and the Electric Circuit are announcing a new partnership intended to increase the number of public charging stations in Quebec. This partnership aims to help fund the installation of fast chargers in 20 different site for the Electric Circuit in 2015 and five more in 2016.

The installation of these new fast chargers is part of the project for the creation of 50 sites in areas with heavy traffic, along the main motorways and in large urban centers.

It is AddEnergie, a company based in Quebec City, that will provide the fast chargers, which will be produced at the company’s factory in Shawinigan. Equipped with connectors for both the CHAdeMO and SAE standards, the direct current fast chargers will be capable of charging the Nissan LEAF and most other electric vehicles. Less than 30 minutes will be required to charge the Nissan LEAF’s battery to 80% capacity, allowing electric vehicle drivers to quickly get back on the road.

At the Montreal Auto Show, Nissan also announced record sales of its fully electric LEAF throughout Canada. The expansions of the public charging network will, according to the Nissan Canada, make long distance travel easier while supporting electric mobility. Nissan Canada took this opportunity to congratulate Hydro-Quebec for its leadership in the in deployment of charging stations via the Electric Circuit.

Certain sites have already been confirmed:

  1. Drummondville (Autoroute 20): St-Hubert restaurant – 2875, Saint-Joseph boulevard
  2. Lévis (Autoroute 20): Carrefour Saint-Romuald, at the corner of routes 132 and 175
  3. Magog (Autoroute 10): Espace Santé globale, 2381-2389, Principale Ouest road (route 112)
  4. St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Autoroute 35) : Centre commercial St-Luc/St-Jean – 170-174, Saint-Luc boulveard
